This summer has been full of wonderful vacations for our crew, and Bali was Taanika Shankar's hot choice. Here are the highlights of this beloved island of the Gods.

let your adventurous side out with water sports: Bali is the perfect destination for the adventurous soul. From walking on the ocean floor to sailing in the sky, jet-skiing, fly fishing, water skiing, snorkelling and scuba diving, there is no dearth of things to do for an adrenaline rush. River rafting is an experience straight out of a thriller movie. It will leave you drenched in water and alive with excitement! Not to mention, Bali is one of the best surf spots in the world.

Immerse yourself in Bali's rich arts and culture scene: If you are not quite the thrill seeker, Bali will still have enough to enthrall you, with its rich cultural and architectural heritage. located on the coast of West Bali, the Tanah lot Temple is one of the most popular places of interest, with its unique off-shore setting and sunset backdrop. The traditional Balinese Kecak and Fire Dance is a performance you must not miss. What makes the Kecak special is that the accompanying music is provided by the human voice, by an incredible a choir of a fifty or more men. The dance portrays scenes from the Ramayana and the performance takes place under the setting sun.

Go trekking: The Mount Batur sunrise trek provides a spectacular view of the rising sun. The sight of the active volcano from afar is awe-inspiring as well.

Sample Bali's internationally acclaimed coffee and other exotic produce: It might not be everyone's cup of coffee but the luwak coffee is known to be the most expensive in the world. The partially digested coffee cherries ( yes, Asian palm civets eat and defecate the cherries) A tour of one of the several coffee plantations in Bali gives an insight into the process of bean to beverage. Bali also grows world-class vanilla, clove, and tea.

Shop: From Bali Collection in Nusa Dua to delightful shops on the sides of the road in Jimbaran and Kuta, Bali is a great place to shop! It is known for excellent silver items, furniture, and sculptures.
Eat: A visit to this picturesque place is incomplete till you've tried the Nasi Goreng and Snake Fruit, also known as Salak.
