Beyond The Frame -When Light Takes Flight 

A pelican swoops down, gathers water and takes off to feed her young. As she rises from the lake, the water droplets catch the first rays of sunlight, turning an ordinary act of a mother caring for her young ones into something almost magical.

Wildlife and landscape photographer S. Devarajan (Dev) captured this tender moment at Ranganathittu near Mysore in Karnataka.

“An early morning moment unfolded in a flash, and the fleeting play of light, water, and movement makes this a photograph to remember,” he says.

The photo titled ‘Take Off’ won Gold at the European Photography Awards.

An award-winning photographer, Dev has won more than 56 international photography awards and enjoys music and travel. He was the Managing Director of Cisco Systems India and Tata Elxsi, was President of MAIT, and currently serves on several corporate boards.
